heal.abstract |
Two alternative approaches for identifying the components of modeling of physical systems are discussed. The prescriptive approach relies on teaching experience and domain expertise, while the normative approach is based on subject interviews and protocol analysis. A framework for the modeling process, consisting of ten components, is developed using primarily the normative approach. It is concluded that teaching of modeling may benefit from explicitly addressing these components. |
