The compliance Kyoto protocol commitments for reduction of the Greenhouse gases is expected to be achieved by a large penetration of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in Europe. Among available RES technologies, wind power is expected to contribute the largest portion. The large wind energy penetration has a significant impact technically as well as economically on the Electricity Supply Industry (ESI). In this paper a methodology to estimate the impact of large-scale wind integration to the ESI in Greece as well as indicative results for several case studies are presented. |
