Homecare services have started adopting - during the last few years - a new provision model, based on wireless technologies, in order to support healthcare provision decentralisation and eInciusion. However, this new homecare service provision model raises several issues regarding the credibility of the data transmitted. From the plethora of available technologies to support the formulation of WPAN for homecare, literature has shown that IEEE 802.15.4 is probably the most suitable. The scope of the current paper is to evaluate the performance of an 802.15.4 star network under the interference of an 802.11 wireless network in real life conditions and for varied network traffic for homecare telemedicine services. © 2010 IEEE. |
