heal.abstract |
A steady-state mathematical model for the oxidation of piggery wastes in an oxidation ditch was developed. Analysis of bench-scale experiments showed that the model satisfactorily simulated the performance of the oxidation ditch. Indicative values of the parameters entering the model were obtained, which were in good agreement with the values suggested in the literature concerning the biological treatment of wastewaters. Further research is needed in order to establish reliable values for the parameters of the model, so that the latter can be successfully used for design purposes. |
