High grade (2. 20%Ni) Greek laterites have been used. The effect of time and temperature of leaching, particle size, pulp density and acid strength are reported. An extraction of 75-80% of Ni and Co could be achieved after 4h of leaching at 95 degree C with 3N sulfuric acid. Preheating to 200-800 degree C before leaching reduced extraction. Two or three stage countercurrent leaching reduced acid consumption to 650 kg/t ore (39 kg/t Ni) without affecting recovery. |
