The problem of primitive pattern selection in syntactic pattern recognition is a fundamental one. No method exists as yet for automatically solving it. A solution to this problem with respect to electrocardiogram (ECG) waveforms is presented. It consists of a set of three primitive patterns, namely, the peak, the line segment, and the parabolic segment. The extraction of the primitive patterns from the raw data is also a problem. A solution to this problem is presented which concerns the selected set of primitive patterns. |
