The use of packet switching only in integrated services networks is considered. When packet switching is used for voice and video signals, data and video packets are generated periodically. The authors analyze a system with periodic arrivals and explore its properties. They study queue lengths and delays and compare the results of the periodic and nonperiodic model. The average queue length of the periodic model was found to be significantly lower than that of the examined nonperiodic model. |
