The attention in this paper will be focused on the development of methodologies and models to predict the improvement in using site diversity. Some semi-empirical and radar derived models have been recently developed. Their performance has been evaluated over a range of situations. In the present work, a more rigorous and very general method is proposed for the prediction of the joint probability or equivalently the diversity advantage of a site diversity satellite system. The predictive analysis has been applied to several situations where site diversity communication systems have been operated. Some useful conclusions concerning the performance of the method towards the effective design of the diversity system have been deduced. |
