In this paper, the capabilities of the Electromagnetic Transients Program (EMTP) are investigated so as to examine the transient behaviour of grounding electrodes under lightning current excitation. Two methods are used, to model the transient response of grounding electrodes, based upon the transmission line approach. The results from the two methods are compares, and general comments regarding the propagation of voltage wave form along the electrode are drawn. |
