heal.abstract The first stage of development of an integrated model for transient diesel engine performance analysis and transient structural response calculations is presented. The model is based upon a theoretical and experimental experience gathered in a laboratory concerning engine performance analysis and exhaust emissions. All engine subsystems are described in detail under transient conditions, while two- and three-dimensional finite element analyses are implemented for the representation of the complex geometry metal combustion chamber components. en
