A detailed multi-zone combustion model in the three dimensions has been developed for direct injection diesel engines. The model considers for the distribution of thermodynamic parameters around the jet axis which was assumed to be symmetrical in the previous 2-D version one. The incorporation of the third dimensional provides more detailed information concerning the combustion mechanism and the mechanisms that lead to the formation of pollutants inside the fuel jet. |
