heal.abstract | In this work we present a methodology, which can help the mill managers to make successful decisions towards the best possible operation of the mill. The objective is the maximization of profit through optimal management of inventories and selection of production rates. In order to use this methodology, a mill wide detailed model is first developed, taking into account the mass and energy balances, system constraints, storage capacities etc. MILP (Mixed Integer Linear Programming) optimization techniques are then utilized so as to minimize the economical impact of the scheduled shutdowns and the daily disturbances, which are due to machine breakdowns, real time pricing of utilities and changing production demands. | en |
