In the present contribution an analysis is made of the shape of the deviatoric trace of failure, yield and plastic potential surfaces for concrete and other geomaterials. Existing expressions for the deviatoric trace are considered and their properties assessed. Two new expressions are proposed, following a rational approach, which include all the desirable properties, offer versatility in modelling and are significantly less complex. © 2006 Taylor & Francis Group. |
