heal.abstract |
The influence of the experimental conditions on the operation of a quartz crystal microbalance in an ultrasonic field was studied in water and different Cu electrolytes. An increase of the ultrasonic intensity and a decreasing distance between the ultrasonic horn tip and the surface of the quartz resonator caused an increase in signal noise and a decrease in the resonance frequency without disturbing the measurements strongly. Surface cavitation was found to impact the quartz response significantly and led to a roughening of its gold electrode. ©The Electrochemical Society. |
