heal.abstract The problems of the water system of the Kalamas River and the Lake Pamvotis are investigated and the methodology for establishing criteria for the water quality control in the system are portrayed. Initially, the hydrologic regime of the system is described with emphasis on the water budget and the minimum discharges. Then, the water uses and the pollution sources are presented and the pollution loads of the system are estimated. Finally, the classification of the uses of the system and the adoption of water quality criteria for each use is attempted, and a methodology for modeling the pollution of the system is formulated. en
