Δύο σκάλες: βίωμα, έννοια

Abstract

Η παρούσα διάλεξη στοχεύει να αναδείξει την ανάγκη υπέρβασης της έννοιας ‘‘λειτουργία’’, μέσω δύο περιπτώσεων σκάλας σε δύο ιδιαίτερες κατοικίες του 20ου αιώνα . Η πρώτη είναι η δεσπόζουσα σκάλα της Villa Malaparte , έργο του Ιταλού συγγραφέα Curzio Malaparte . Η δεύτερη εντοπίζεται στο House VI του Peter Eisenman. Οι δύο σκάλες μοιάζουν παράταιρες, όντας ανακόλουθες των αντίστοιχων απαιτήσεων. Στην Villa Malaparte το μέγεθος της σκάλας κρίνεται υπερβολικό, ενώ στο House VI το δεύτερο μέρος της σκάλας στέκει δίχως χρήση. Επιχειρούμε να αναδείξουμε μία σύνδεση των δύο περιπτώσεων με φιλοσοφικά κινήματα του 20ου αιώνα, το στρουκτουραλισμό για το κόκκινο σκέλος του House VI και τη φαινομενολογία όσον αφορά την υπερμεγέθη σκάλα της Villa Malaparte. Επιπλέον, εξετάζουμε τις δύο σκάλες υπό το φακό δύο εννοιολογικών αξόνων, αρχικά με τη βοήθεια των εννοιών του ενδυνάμει και του ανταποδοτικού βλέμματος που επεξεργάστηκε ο Jacques Lacan, και έπειτα με τη χρήση του διπόλου παρουσίας – απουσίας του Jacques Derrida. Ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον παρουσιάζει ο διαφορετικός χειρισμός των εννοιών αυτών στα δύο παραδείγματα. Καταλήγουμε στην ανάγκη αντιμετώπισης της έννοιας της ‘‘λειτουργίας'' με όρους ''τελετουργίας’’, όπου οι αισθήσεις και οι έννοιες αποτελούν συνθετικούς πυλώνες και αναδεικνύονται ο θεωρητικός πλούτος των ιδεών και η μοναδικότητα της εμπειρίας.

The current thesis aims to underline the necessity of exceeding the ‘‘functional’’ aspect of architecture via two unique staircases , the dominant staircase of Villa Malaparte, created by the Italian writer Curzio Malaparte and the red part of the staircase of the House VI, designed by Peter Eisenman. The two staircases seem bizarre, being in consequent to the corresponding functional requirements, as the staircase in Villa Malaparte is completely out of scale where as in House VI it rests without use. We intend to bind the two examples with significant philosophical movements of our century, structuralism concerning the pair of staircases in House VI and phenomenology for the dominant staircase of Villa Malaparte. In addition, we examine the two staircases through two notional axis, the term of ‘‘gaze’’, elaborated by Jacques Lacanand the relation of presence – absence, a concept proposed by Jacques Derrida. The contrast, arising from the application of the aforementioned terms in our two staircases, is of great interest. This thesis concludes that in the architectural process the term ''function’’ has to be examined mainly as a “ritual” dimension in a broadened sense, where experience and concept constitute two basic designing factors and the wealth of ideas or the uniqueness of the personal experience are highlighted .
