heal.abstract	Ο σιδηροδρομικός σταθμός,κτίριο δημόσιο,με τις ρίζες του στην Βιομηχανική Επανάσταση,αντιπροσωπεύει απ’τη μία,μια επιβλητική αρχιτεκτονική ενός αστικού μνημείου και από την άλλη,μια αρχιτεκτονική συνδεδεμένη με τον τεχνολογικό κόσμο της μηχανής.Είναι ο χώρος όπου η έννοια του ταξιδιού επαναπροσδιορίζεται και η ατμόσφαιρα αυτού αποκτά μορφή. Όλη η αίγλη,η σπουδαιότητα και η προβολή του μηχανολογικού θαύματος του τρένου συγκεντρώνεται στον σιδηροδρομικό σταθμό.Η αέναη κίνηση του τρένου,η στάση,ο προορισμός,η φυγή,η ασφάλεια και η ανασφάλεια του αποχωρισμού αποτυπώνονται στον σταθμό και δίνουν μια ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση στον χώρο και στον χρόνο.Οι σταθμοί αποτελούν την καρδιά του σιδηροδρόμου,τα σημεία άφιξης και αναχώρησης,τα «κέντρα ελέγχου» της έντασης και της ροής της κυκλοφορίας. Λειτουργούν ως αστικές πύλες και αποτελούν έναν από τους πιο σημαντικούς κτιριακούς τύπους του αστικού ιστού.Είναι από τα λίγα δημόσια κτίρια της Βιομηχανικής Επανάστασης,που αντικατοπτρίζουν παραπάνω από έναν αιώνα ιστορίας,μεταλλαγών και κοινωνικών διακυμάνσεων,τόσο στον κόσμο,όσο και στην Ελλάδα,με τις ιδιαίτερες συνθήκες της χώρας μας. Σκοπός της εργασίας είναι ο επαναπροσδιορισμός της σχέσης των σιδηροδρομικών σταθμών με την αρχιτεκτονική και την πόλη στη σύγχρονη εποχή.Αυτός ο επαναπροσδιορισμός μελετήθηκε μέσα από διαδικασίες ανάπλασης των σταθμών,που πραγματοποιούνται για την βελτίωση της λειτουργικότητάς και της κτιριακής τους υποδομής,την ενίσχυση του ρόλου τους ως συγκοινωνιακούς κόμβους και την ταυτόχρονη αναβάθμιση του ευρύτερου αστικού τους περιβάλλοντος.Οι αναπλάσεις αυτές εξελίσσουν τους σταθμούς σε πολυλειτουργικά κέντρα και ευνοούν την ανάδειξή τους σε σύμβολα για τις πόλεις.	el
heal.abstract	The railway station,a public building,with its roots back in Industrial Revolution,represents not only the impressive architecture of an urban monument,but also an architecture connected with the technological world of engines.It is the place where the concept of travel is being redefined and it’s atmosphere is taking shape. All the glamour,the importance and the view of the mechanical miracle of the train gathers in the railway station.The continuous movement of the train,the train stops,the destination,the flee,the security and the insecurity of separation,they are all reflected in the station and give a special feeling of space and time.The railway stations are the heart of railway,the points of arrival and departure,the “control centers” of the volume and the flow of circulation. They seem like urban gates and they are one of the most important building types of an urban area.It’s one of the few public building of the Industrial Revolution,which reflects more than a century of history,social changes and variability,both in the whole world and in Greece,with all the specific conditions of our country. This study aims to redefine the relationship between the railway stations and architecture and the city in modern times.This redefinition was studied through a process of stations’ reconstructions,made to improve the functionality of the building infrastructure,strengthen their role of transport hubs and upgrade their wider urban environment.These reconstructions transform the stations into multipurpose centers and make them symbols for the cities.	en
