Διερεύνηση του προσανατολισμού του αρχαίου θεάτρου των Δελφών

Abstract

Αντικείμενο της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η διερεύνηση του προσανατολισμού του αρχαίου θεάτρου των Δελφών με τη χρήση σύγχρονων γεωδαιτικών και αστρογεωδαιτικών μεθόδων. Το θέατρο εντάσσεται στον ευρύτερο αρχαιολογικό χώρο των Δελφών ο οποίος αποτελεί μνημείο παγκόσμιας κληρονομιάς της UNESCO και βρίσκεται στη ΝΔ πλευρά του όρους Παρνασσού στο νομό Φωκίδας. Η εργασία αποτελείται από έξι κεφάλαια. Στο πρώτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται αναφορά στα αρχαία ελληνικά θέατρα και στην αρχιτεκτονική τους. Στη συνέχεια παρουσιάζονται ιστορικά και κατασκευαστικά στοιχεία που αφορούν στο αρχαίο θέατρο των Δελφών. Επίσης ορίζεται το αντικείμενο της εργασίας. Στο δεύτερο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζονται οι γεωδαιτικές εργασίες που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στον χώρο του θεάτρου, γίνεται αναφορά στη διαδικασία των μετρήσεων και στις μεθόδους που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν και παρουσιάζονται τα αποτελέσματα. Στο τρίτο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζεται η μεθοδολογία προσδιορισμού του αστρονομικού αζιμουθίου, και των αστρογεωδαιτικών μετρήσεων. Υπολογίζεται το αστρονομικό αζιμούθιο μιας διεύθυνσης και η ακρίβεια που επιτυγχάνεται. Στο τέταρτο κεφάλαιο περιγράφεται διεξοδικά η διαδικασία με την οποία προσδιορίστηκε ο βασικός άξονας του θεάτρου και η τελική τιμή του αστρονομικού αζιμουθίου αυτού, με το αντίστοιχο σφάλμα προσδιορισμού του. Στο πέμπτο κεφάλαιο γίνεται αναλυτική παρουσίαση της διαδικασίας που ακολουθείται κατά τη διερεύνηση του προσανατολισμού μνημείων και τα στάδια εφαρμογής αυτής κατά την προσπάθεια ερμηνείας του προσανατολισμού του θεάτρου των Δελφών. Τέλος, στο έκτο κεφάλαιο παρουσιάζονται τα αποτελέσματα των εργασιών συνολικά και τα συμπεράσματα σχετικά με τον προσανατολισμό του θεάτρου.

The subject of this diploma thesis is the investigation of the orientation of the ancient theater of Delphi using modern geodetic and astrogeodetic methods. The theater is part of the archaeological site of Delphi, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is located on the SW side of Mount Parnassus in Phocis prefecture. This thesis consists of six chapters. The first chapter is a reference to the ancient Greek theater and its architecture. Subsequently, historical and constructive information regarding the ancient theater of Delphi is presented. Additionally described is the definition of the scope of the thesis as well as the methodology followed. In the second chapter geodetic work that took place at the theatre is presented, with references on the process of measurements, the methods used and the results. The third chapter presents the methodology for the astronomical azimuth identification and astrogeodetic observations. The Astronomical azimuth of one direction is being determined as well as the accuracy achieved. The fourth chapter describes in detail the process of identification of the main axis of the theater and the final value of its astronomical azimuth is calculated. The fifth chapter presents in detail the procedure of the investigation of the monument’s orientation and the implementation stages of it during the effort on the interpretation of its orientation. Finally, the sixth chapter presents the results of operations and overall conclusions on the orientation of the theater. The results of this work are:  The determination of the geodetic coordinates of the monument's position.  The definition of the main axis of the theater.  The determination of the astronomical azimuth of the main axis.  The confirmation of the southeastern orientation of the monument.  The finding that the orientation of the theater is associated with the constellations Delphinus and Lyra.
