heal.abstract	The purpose of this diploma thesis is the development and implementation of a methodology for determination of compression ignition engine valve timing and ignition angle from the cylinder pressure diagram using FORTRAN programming language. First, the current thesis deals with the fundamentals of gas exchange processes, in four stroke and in two stroke cycle compression ignition engines and then it deals with the combustion in compression ignition engines. Emphasis is laid on valve timing and injection timing effects on specific fuel consumption and emissions. The thesis includes a description of the methods of numerical analysis, which are icorporated to the developed programmes. Additionally, the developed programmes are described and the results are desplayed graphically and in numerical form. Finally, flow charts represent the developed programmes in detail.	en
heal.abstract	Σκοπός της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας, είναι η ανάπτυξη αλγορίθμων για τον εντοπισμό του χρονισμού των βαλβίδων και της γωνίας έναυσης, μέσω της επεξεργασίας του δυναμοδεικτικού διαγράμματος κινητήρα Diesel. Αρχικά γίνεται αναφορά στην εναλλαγή αερίων, σε δίχρονους και τετράχρονους κινητήρες Diesel. Δίνεται ιδιαίτερη έμφαση, στην επίδραση του χρονισμού των βαλβίδων και του χρονισμού της έγχυσης του καυσίμου στην ειδική κατανάλωση και στους εκπεμπόμενους ρύπους. Κατόπιν, περιγράφονται οι μέθοδοι αριθμητικής ανάλυσης οι οποίες ενσωματώθηκαν στα προγράμματα που αναπτύχθηκαν. Ακολουθεί η γενική περιγραφή των προγραμμάτων, παρουσιάζονται τα αποτελέσματα που εξάγονται από την εκτέλεσή τους, και τελικά, τα προγράμματα αυτά απεικονίζονται λεπτομερώς σε διαγράμματα ροής.
