heal.abstract	The dissertation in question examines three projects of the renowned architect David Chipperfield. Facing one another, the three projects are located in the Museum Island (Museumsinsel) in the historic centre of Berlin. These three are: a new Gallery building, the restoration of the Neues Museum and the new Entrance building to the Museum Island. The architectural analysis of the three projects is being processed in regard to the idea of context, which differs on each of the three cases mentioned above. Therefore, from a contextual perspective, issues such as location, historical context, architectural precedent, etc are determined. These issues largely impact on Chipperfield’s architectural decisions and expression. Moreover, the notion of context is analyzed itself by looking for its latin root as well as by identifying the physical context (environment) and the intellectual context (interweaving of events). An attempt is also being made in order to identify the range and different aspects of context. Ιn regard to the three projects, Chipperfield’s contextual approach to design is clarified and, in the end, three points of reference are pointed out. These are: the form and architectural vocabulary (composition of elements), the relation between the old fabric and the new intervention and the materiality.	en
heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο αυτής της εργασίας είναι τρία αρχιτεκτονικά έργα του David Chipperfield, τα οποία βρίσκονται αντικριστά μεταξύ τους στην περιοχή της Νήσου των Μουσείων, στο ιστορικό κέντρο του Βερολίνου. Πρόκειται για μια νέα γκαλερί τέχνης, για την αποκατάσταση του Neues Museum και το νέο κτήριο Εισόδου της Νήσου των Μουσείων. Εστιάζοντας στο context, το οποίο είναι διαφορετικό ανά περίπτωση, επιχειρείται η αρχιτεκτονική ανάλυση υπό αυτό το πρίσμα. Επομένως, γίνεται ανάλυση σε ζητήματα όπως η τοποθεσία, το ιστορικό πλαίσιο, αρχιτεκτονικό προηγούμενο, κ.α. τα οποία καθόρισαν σε μεγάλο βαθμό τη διαμόρφωση της νέα αρχιτεκτονικής έκφρασης. Επιπλέον, αναλύεται η λατινική έννοια του context, η οποία προσδιορίζεται τόσο ως τοπικό πλαίσιο (υλικό περιβάλλον) όσο και ως διανοητικό συγκείμενο - το εύρος και οι διαφορετικές πτυχές της. Παράλληλα, μέσω των τριών παραδειγμάτων, αποσαφηνίζεται η contextual προσέγγιση του Chipperfield για τον αρχιτεκτονικό σχεδιασμό και, τέλος, διακρίνονται τρία σημεία αναφοράς αυτής της προσέγγισης. Αυτά είναι: η δομή της μορφής και το αρχιτεκτονικό λεξιλόγιο, η σχέση μεταξύ νέου και παλιού και η υλικότητα.	el
