heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο της παρούσας εργασίας αποτελεί η ανάγνωση της πόλης της Λευκωσίας ως ιστορικό παλίμψηστο, μέσα από την αναγνώριση των διαφορετικών ιστορικών περιόδων στον ιστό της πόλης. Έναυσμα αποτέλεσε το ενδιαφέρον για την κατανόηση της ιδιαίτερης φυσιογνωμίας και της ταυτότητας της πόλης, που εμφανίζεται σαν “κολλάζ” διαφορετικών πολιτισμών, καθώς και ο προβληματισμός για τον τρόπο της σύγχρονης επέμβασης σε ιστορικά σύνολα μνημεία. Μεθοδολογικά, η αναγνώριση της ταυτότητας της πόλης επιχειρείται μέσα από τη χωρική ανάγνωση και τον εντοπισμό των αποτυπωμάτων της κάθε ιστορικής περιόδου και την καταγραφή των διαφόρων επάλληλων ιστορικών στρωμάτων που σώζονται σήμερα, αυτού που ονομάζουμε “παλίμψηστο”. Επιπλέον, κρίνεται απαραίτητη η αναδρομή στην ιστορική εξέλιξη και εξέταση των παραγόντων που διαμόρφωσαν τη φυσιογνωμία της, μέσα από βιβλιογραφική έρευνα αλλά και επί τόπου παρατήρηση και φωτογραφική αποτύπωση.	el
heal.abstract	The subject of this thesis is the reading of Nicosia as a historical ‘palimpsest’, through the recognition of different historical periods in the city's fabric. What triggered the study was the interest in understanding the particular character and identity of the city, listed as a "collage" of different cultures and as a reflection of the impact contemporary intervention has on historical monuments. Methodologically, the identification of the city is attempted through spatial reading and identification of the remains of each historical period and through recording the various successive historical layers that survive today, which is what we call "palimpsest". Moreover, it was considered necessary to trace the historical development and examine the factors that shaped the city’s physiognomy, through literature research, on-site observation and photographic survey.	en
