heal.abstract	Η παρούσα εργασία αποσκοπεί στην προσέγγιση του ζητήματος χρησιμοποίησης πολιτιστικών πολιτικών ως εργαλείο ενίσχυσης της φυσικής και οικονομικής αναζωογόνησης των πόλεων. Στην κατεύθυνση αυτή, ο πολιτισμός εμπλέκεται με την ανάπτυξη του τομέα των υπηρεσιών, τις βιομηχανίες του τουρισμού, την εκπαίδευση και την επενδυτική δραστηριότητα. Εκφράζεται ως σημαντικό συγκριτικό πλεονέκτημα της σύγχρονης πόλης, ως πολιτική προτεραιότητα και κύριο εργαλείο αστικής αναζωογόνησης. Ως μελέτη περίπτωσης επιλέγεται η Γλασκώβη, η μεγαλύτερη πόλη της Σκωτίας, που τα τελευταία 40 χρόνια διαθέτει μακρά ιστορία στην εφαρμογή ανάλογων πολιτικών. Από μικρός αγροτικός οικισμός στις όχθες του ποταμού Clyde έγινε ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα λιμάνια στη Βρετανία με αναπτυγμένη τη βαριά βιομηχανία και κυρίως τη ναυπηγική. Σήμερα, η οικονομία της είναι βασισμένη στις υπηρεσίες του χρηματοοικονομικού τομέα, του πολιτισμού και στις βιομηχανίες του τριτογενούς τομέα. Το παράδειγμα της Γλασκώβης, μπορεί να βοηθήσει στη εξαγωγή χρήσιμων συμπερασμάτων για την αποτελεσματικότητα αυτών των πολιτικών καθώς και για τον ρόλο του πολιτισμού στη διαμόρφωση μιας νέας ταυτότητας για τις πόλεις της βορειοδυτική Ευρώπη.	el
heal.abstract	The aim of this paper is to analyse cultural policies as a tool and mechanism of improving the physical and economic regeneration of cities. Culture is closely related to the services sector, the tourism industry, education and investment activity as they interact in the same social and economic environment. It is expressed as a significant competitive advantage of the modern cities and a major urban revitalization tool. Glasgow has been selected as a case study of this project. It is the largest city in Scotland, with a great history the last 40 years in the implementation of cultural policies. Initially, the city was developed as a small rural center in the banks of the River Clyde, however during the years it became one of the largest ports in Britain, mainly concentrated on the heavy shipbuilding industry. Today, Glasgow constitutes an important financial centre whereas at the same time its economic development is based on other fields of the service industry. The example of Glasgow can help extract useful conclusions about the effectiveness of these policies and the role of culture in shaping a new identity for the cities of the northwest Europe.	en
