heal.abstract	Η κοινωνία και η αρχιτεκτονική δημιουργία διακατέχονται από δύο φαινομενικά αντίθετες τάσεις, την τάση για διατήρηση, συντήρηση και ανάδειξη της πολιτιστικής μας κληρονομιάς και την τάση για αλλαγή και ανανέωση, εκσυγχρονισμό και ρήξη με το παρελθόν. Ανάλογες είναι και οι τάσεις που παρατηρούνται στις προσεγγίσεις διατήρησης των βιομηχανικών κελυφών, τα οποία αποτελούν πεδίο αυξημένου ενδιαφέροντος από τις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ’70 και έπειτα. Στη σημερινή πραγματικότητα, που η ανάγκη για βιώσιμη ανάπτυξη των πόλεων και για εξοικονόμηση των πόρων είναι έντονη, η αξιοποίηση των μνημείων του βιομηχανικού πολιτισμού καθίσταται επιτακτική. Με αντικείμενο μελέτης έργα που υλοποιήθηκαν την τελευταία δεκαετία στον Ευρωπαϊκό χώρο, επιχειρώ να προσεγγίσω το παραπάνω ζήτημα σε ένα σύγχρονο πλαίσιο. Απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση, βέβαια, αποτελεί η καλή γνώση της ιστορίας των μνημείων του βιομηχανικού πολιτισμού. Όροι και έννοιες γίνεται προσπάθεια να αποσαφηνιστούν, ενώ παρουσιάζεται και η εξέλιξη του ενδιαφέροντος γύρω από αυτά στο πέρασμα των χρόνων.	el
heal.abstract	Society and Architecture are characterized by two apparently opposite tendencies, one of conservation, preservation and enhancement of our cultural heritage and the other of change and renewal, modernization and break with the past. Similar are the trends in conservation approaches of industrial buildings, a field of increased interest since the early 70’s and onwards. Currently, because of the intense need for sustainable development of cities and protection of resources, the reuse of industrial monuments has become imperative. With case studies of last decade’s reuses of industrial buildings into art spaces in Europe, I attempt to approach the issue in a modern context and to highlight that contemporary and creative approaches can revitalize those shells. It is essential, though, to have good knowledge of the history of industrial monuments first. For that reason, terms and notions are clarified, while the evolution of the interest around industrial buildings over the years is represented.	en
