The dissertation deals with the study and the design of a six-storey steel building with a basement made of reinforced concrete. More specifically, the behavior of the building under adverse loadings, which are defined by the regulations was studied, which led to its design and dimensioning. This study includes the check of the seismic behavior of the steel structure, which is critical because of the high seismic activity in Greece. The static program Scia Engineer 14 was used in order to design the model, insert the loads and the check of the cross-sections used. The extended cross-section checks, internal forces and the deformations from Scia Engineer are presented. Finally the basic steel connections were designed and checked by the static program. In addition the study of the same building after removing the vertical stiffness joints is included, in order to compare the two buildings regarding the internal forces, deformations and self weight. |
