heal.abstract	Οι ενετικές οχυρώσεις των Χανίων αποτελούν αναπόσπαστο στοιχείο του αστικού ιστού και αναμφισβήτητα ένα πολύ ισχυρό όριο μεταξύ παλιάς και νέας πόλης. Στη συνείδηση των κατοίκων όμως, δεν κατέχουν σημαντικό ρόλο, γεγονός που φαίνεται από την πλήρη απαξίωση, την εγκατάλειψη, τους κενούς ανενεργούς χώρους της τάφρου και την ανεξέλεγκτη δημιουργία χώρων στάθμευσης μέσα και γύρω της. Παράλληλα, οι προοπτικές για ανάδειξη και αξιοποίηση των τειχών παραμένουν ανεκμετάλλευτες. Η παρούσα διπλωματική εστιάζει στο δυτικό τμήμα των οχυρώσεων, όπου στη σημερινή του μορφή χάνεται ανάμεσα στις δομημένες μονάδες της πόλης. Αποτελεί ως εκ τούτου ένα ανενεργό στοιχείο το οποίο διαχωρίζει τον ζωντανό οργανισμό της πόλης σε δύο μέρη, έναν ιστορικό εν δυνάμει πολιτιστικό πυρήνα. Για την ενεργοποίηση του πυρήνα αυτού καθώς και για την μείωση του χάσματος της παλιάς πόλης με την νέα ο σχεδιασμός εκπονείται σε δύο φάσεις, με γνώμονα την ισορροπία ανάμεσα στην ιστορικότητα του τοπίου και στην αστικότητα της πόλης.	el
heal.abstract	The Venetian fortifications of Chania are an integral part of the urban fabric and unquestionably a very strong borderline between the old and new city. But in the minds of the residents, they don't have an important part, a fact that is obvious by the complete depreciation, neglect, the empty inactive areas of the fosse and the out of control construction of parking spaces in and around it. At the same time, prospects for emergence and enhancement of the walls remain unexploited. This thesis focuses on the western part of the fortifications, which in its present form is lost between the structured units of the city. It is therefore an inactive element which separates the living organism of the city into two parts, one historical potentially cultural core. To activate this core and to reduce the gap between the old city and the new, the planning is implemented in two phases, based on the balance between the historicity of the landscape and the urbanity of the city.	en
