| heal.abstract | The subject of this work is the creation of a cultural center in the center of Athens aiming to the best possible acceptance of the building complex by, not only the natural, but also the artificial environment. The site in which the building is to be constructed into was chosen following some research by the technical services of the municipality of Athens. The land that was chosen lies between Leandrou and Ifigeneias street, in the Kolokynthous area (Sepolia). In that region one meets thick structure with plenty free space, such as a big cultivatable land, the Plato Academy etc. The technical services of the municipality have conducted a research about creating pavements on the streets, in which our site of study is concluded. These pavements connect the site with the metro stations of Sepolia and Larissis station, the Plato Academy and the hills of Ippeiou Kolwnou and Skouze. In this area one can also find many public buildings such as schools, the public natatorium and a tobacco factory. Specifically, the tobacco factory is a building, about which there has been research, and it is about to operate as the new file storage of the parliament. So, with the addition of my cultural center, there will be created a central cultural center, in which, though, each building will not reduce or abolish the use of another, but they will operate in combination and one will strengthen the use of the other. This whole system prospers due to the easy access in the area (metro stations, Lenorman street, Kifisos, pavements, bus lines). In other words, an "interactional" constructed environment is created, which will cooperate with the landmarks of the area and will add to their function. The intention is, therefore, the creation of a building - "milestone", a cultural symbol, a linguistic and art symbol, of a core which will be outstanding. | en |
