heal.abstract	Το "εσωτερικό σύνορο" της Νεκρής Ζώνης στην Κύπρο, θεωρείται από τους περισσότερους ως ένα όριο που διασχίζει τη χώρα, διαχωρίζοντάς τη σε Βόρεια και Νότια Κύπρο. Στον ορισμό της, όμως, αποκλειστικά ως ασυνέχεια, εμπεριέχεται άγνοια, ή έστω παράβλεψη, σημαντικών ζητημάτων αναφορικά με το παρελθόν του τόπου, αφού "Νότιοι" και "Bόρειοι" έχουν ζήσει στα ίδια χώματα, δημιουργώντας κοινή ιστορία, κοινά βιώματα και κοινές μνήμες. Η έκταση της Νεκρής Ζώνης, όντας αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι του νησιού, ίσως ενώνει παρά χωρίζει το Βορρά και το Νότο, αποτελώντας την ίδια στιγμή, πληγή και ράμμα, όριο και σύνδεση, ασυνέχεια και συνέχεια. Υπό το δίπολο ασυνέχειας-συνέχειας, διερευνάται στην παρούσα ερευνητική εργασία η χωρική αλλά και η ιδεολογική διάσταση της Νεκρής Ζώνης. Σε χωρικό επίπεδο, η Νεκρή Ζώνη μελετάται, όχι μόνο ως μία ισχυρή τομή που δημιουργεί δύο έτερους τόπους, αλλά και ως μία σύνδεση μεταξύ τους, που υπενθυμίζει ότι και οι δύο, αποτελούσαν κάποτε τμήματα ενός ενιαίου και αδιάσπαστου συνόλου. Σε ιδεολογικό επίπεδο, εξετάζονται οι διαφορετικές ερμηνείες της Νεκρής Ζώνης σήμερα, με τον τρόπο που αυτές διαμορφώνονται μέσα από ατομικά και συλλογικά ζητήματα, όπως η ανάγνωση του χώρου, οι μνήμες και οι κοινωνικές συνθήκες, λαμβάνοντας υπόψιν ότι αυτά βρίσκονται σε μία σχέση αλληλεξάρτησης μεταξύ τους.	el
heal.abstract	The "internal border" of the Dead Zone in Cyprus is considered by most as a boundary that crosses the country, dividing it into North and South Cyprus. However, the interpretation of the Dead Zone, only as a discontinuity, involves ignorance of important issues regarding the past of the island, since the "Southeners" and "Northeners" have lived in the same regions, creating common history, mutual experiences and shared memories. The space of the Dead Zone, being an integral part of the island, may unites rather than divides the North from the South, being at the same time, wound and suture, limit and connection, discontinuity and continuity. Using the dipole discontinuity-continuity, this dissertation investigates the spatial and ideological dimension of the Dead Zone. In spatial level, the Dead Zone is studied not only as a strong section that creates two separated places but also as a connection between them, recalling that both of them were once parts of a single whole. In ideological level, the different interpretations of the Dead Zone are studied in the way they are formed through individual and collective issues, such as the reading of space, the memory and the social conditions.	en
