heal.abstract	Το Kreuzberg αποτελεί μια χαρακτηριστική συνοικία στο κέντρο του Βερολίνου τόσο λόγω της ιδιαίτερης του αστικής ατμόσφαιρας, όσο και των σχέσεων γειτονιάς μεταξύ των κατοίκων της. Ποικίλες κινητοποιήσεις ανά τα χρόνια, βοήθησαν το Kreuzberg να αποτελέσει κέντρο δράσεων, διατηρώντας για δεκαετίες μια συνοχή που του επιτρέπει να διευθετεί ζητήματα που προέκυπταν και προκύπτουν, με τον καλύτερο, δικό του τρόπο. Για να γίνει καλύτερη αναγνώριση των συνθηκών που συντέλεσαν στον ιδιαίτερο χαρακτήρα του Kreuzberg, αρχικά μελετάται η ένταξή του στο ευρύτερο ιστορικό πλαίσιο του Βερολίνου, εστιάζοντας στα χρόνια μετά τον Β Παγκόσμιο Πόλεμο και στη συνθήκη μετατροπής του από περιθωριοποιημένη συνοικία κατά την περίοδο του Τείχους, σε κεντρική συνοικία μετά την πτώση αυτού. Ο στόχος της παρούσας διάλεξης είναι η ανάγνωση της περιοχής μέσα από πλευρές της, οι οποίες έχουν τη δική τους ιστορική εξέλιξη αλλά ταυτόχρονα διαπλέκονται και συνδιαμορφώνουν το σημερινό Kreuzberg . Ο χαρακτήρας της περιοχής έχει επηρεαστεί αρχικά, από την ευρύτερη ''τούρκικη κοινότητα'' που αποτελεί μεγάλο μέρος του πληθυσμού του Kreuzberg, με χαρακτηριστικές στενές οικογενειακές σχέσεις. Στη συνέχεια, από το κύμα των καταλήψεων της δεκαετίας του ΄80 στη περιοχή, που συντέλεσε στη διατήρηση του κτιριακού ιστού και προσέλκυσε νέους κατοίκους. Καταλήγοντας στη σημερινή αντίσταση των κατοίκων στον εξευγενισμό τόσο σε κοινωνικό όσο και σε χωρικό επίπεδο.	el
heal.abstract	Kreuzberg is a distinct district in the center of Berlin, due both to its unique urban atmosphere and to the close neighborhood relations among its inhabitants. Throughout its recent history, numerous demonstrations made Kreuzberg the epicenter of actions and initiatives, maintaining for decades a social cohesion that allows its residents to tackle emerging issues with its own unique way. In order to identify the conditions that contributed to Kreuzberg’s unique character, we initially examine Kreuzberg within Berlin’s wider historical context, focusing on the years after WWII, and in particular its transformation from a marginalized area during the Berlin Wall period (1961-1989), to a central district after the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The main aim of this research project is to understand the district of Kreuzberg through diverse aspects which have their own trajectories yet they interweave and co-configure today’s Kreuzberg. We identified three key aspects through which we ‘read’ Kreuzberg. The districts identity was initially affected by the wider '' Turkish Community '' which constitutes the majority of Kreuzberg’s population, and is characterized by the close family and community relations. Secondly, the squatting movement which emerged and was active in the district mainly in the 80’s, significantly contributed to the preservation of the existing building fabric, to the area’s ‘alternative’ identity as well as to attracting new inhabitants until recently. Finally, nowadays, we examine the impact of gentrification in the district and its socio-spatial consequences.	en
