heal.abstract	Σκοπός αυτής της διπλωματικής ήταν η δημιουργία ενός κέντρου αποτέφρωσης νέκρων στην Αθηνά. Η μη ύπαρξη ενός τέτοιου χώρου στην Ελλάδα ήταν το αρχικό κίνητρο για την επιλογή του θέματος. Η μελέτη ξεκίνησε με την αναζήτηση κατάλληλης τοποθεσίας, προσβάσιμη μακριά από κατοικίες και σε φυσικό παραθαλάσσιο τοπίο, η περιοχή του Σκαραμαγκά που επιλέχθηκε δίνει την δυνατότατά να μελετηθεί ένα πολύμορφο τοπίο το οποίο από την αρχαιότητα έως σήμερα αποτελεί κόμβο μεταξύ Αθηνών και Ελευσίνας. Αφορμή για τον εντοπισμό της περιοχής ήταν τρια εγκαταλελειμμένα τούνελ ορατά από την λεωφόρο Αθηνών-Κορίνθου. Η περιήγηση μέσα σε αυτά η ατμόσφαιρα που προκαλούν: ησυχία, ημίφως, δροσιά· η εκτόνωση στο επάνω μέρος της περιοχής με θεά στον Σαρωνικό, η βλάστηση και τα βράχια του ανέπαφου αττικού τοπίου επιβεβαίωσαν ότι αυτό είναι το κατάλληλο μέρος για το εγχείρημα. Στην συνέχεια μελετήθηκε η ιστορία της αποτέφρωσης καθώς και ο τρόπος σχεδιασμού και λειτουργίας συγχρόνων αποτεφρωτηρίων. Στην προσπαθεια εύρεσης της λογικής που θα διέπει το κέντρο αποτέφρωσης τα ζητούμενα που τέθηκαν ήταν ο χώρος να συνδιαλέγεται με το τοπίο που επιλέχθηκε καθώς και το σενάριο παρέμβασης να ακολουθεί τα στάδια τέλεσης μια κηδείας τα οποία διατηρούνται από την αρχαιότητα έως σήμερα. Αυτά είναι η πρόθεση, η εκφορά, η τελετή ταφής/καύσης και το περίδειπνο. Μέσω της αρχιτεκτονικής παρέμβασης επιχειρείται να συνδεθεί ένα ‘’παγωμένο στο χρόνο’’ τοπίο στην λογική μιας πορείας που βαίνει από το σκοτάδι στο φως, χωρισμένης σε δυο ενότητες. Η πρώτη περιλαμβάνει την διαδρομή του αποχαιρετισμού κατά την οποία δημιουργούνται χώροι μύησης -διάδοχης που ακολουθούν τα στάδια μια κηδείας, η δεύτερη περιλαμβάνει την διαδρομή στο τοπίο για ανάπαυση- παρατήρηση- συζήτηση μεταξύ αυτών που παρευρέθηκαν στην κηδεία και το τεφροφυλακιο. Οι δυο αυτές διαδρομές συνδέονται μέσω ενός κατακόρυφου ανοίγματος στον βράχο.	el
heal.abstract	The aim of this project was to design a crematorium based in Athens, driven from the fact that there is no such place in Greece. The initial challenge was to find the appropriate area for the project. After various exploration in Attica’s outskirts the area of Skaramagas was chosen, giving me the chance to explore a unique and challenging complex of factors. Historically placed in a key location Skaramagas was from the ancient times an entrance to the city, a location that separates Athens from Eleusis. I came across with this area by spotting three abandoned tunnels visible from the main boulevard that connects Athens with Korinthos. After exploring these tunnels and climbing up to the second level by watching the view of Saronic Gulf, I felt that this abandoned by man place would be right for this necropolis to be placed. In order to move on with the architectural synthesis, is studied the history of cremation starting from what was happening in ancient Greek funerals, Japan, India and how this passed through the centuries into the design of contemporary crematoriums all over the word. The key in the architectural synthetic approach was inspired by the land characteristics, following the rocks, the trees, the tunnels, the goal was not to change but connect all these aspects. The spirit of it follows the way a funeral is being held through the centuries in a new synthesis based on that. The two lower tunnels were used, making the one fit for the needed facilities and the other a ‘’mourning route’’ to fell the loss and honor the dead. The stages or this route are based on the study in funerals. After passing through this semi-lighted area, one is elevated to the upper level where he can talk, walk, see the view and feel the loss, and visit the nearby columbarium in the 3rd tunnel.	en
