heal.abstract	Στην παρούσα διατριβή διερευνάται η δυνατότητα συγκρότησης ενός εργαλείου περιγραφής του χώρου μέσω της συγκριτικής ανάλυσης και κατηγοριοποίησης άτυπων χωρικών σχηματισμών, βάσει της ταυτόχρονης και ισότιμης θεώρησης πολλαπλών μετρήσιμων χωρικών χαρακτηριστικών. Αντικείμενο της έρευνας είναι να εξετάσει τη δυνατότητα συγκρότησης χωρικών περιγραφών που να ανταποκρίνονται στην πολλαπλότητα της χωρικής αντίληψης και να διαχειρίζονται την αδυναμία περιγραφής και μέτρησης ασαφών χωρικών ιδιοτήτων που είναι ωστόσο θεμελιώδεις για την κατανόηση και κατ’ επέκταση και για το σχεδιασμό του χώρου. Μεθοδολογικά, επιχειρείται η περιγραφή άτυπων, ασχεδίαστων και υπολειμματικών αδόμητων χώρων, που δεν εμφανίζουν σαφή μορφολογικά, τυπολογικά, δομικά ή και γεωμετρικά χαρακτηριστικά, αλλά παρόλα αυτά χαρακτηρίζονται από αντιληπτικά αναγνωρίσιμες και διαισθητικά εντοπίσιμες ασαφείς ποιότητες. Η προτεινόμενη μέθοδος βασίζεται στην ποσοτικοποίηση πολλαπλών χωρικών χαρακτηριστικών διαφορετικών τάξεων και στη σύγκρισή τους σε έναν μαθηματικά ορισμένο πολυδιάστατο χώρο ιδιοτήτων. Η συγκριτική ανάλυση των πολυδιάστατων αυτών περιγραφών αποβλέπει στην εξαγωγή τύπων, δηλαδή ομάδων ισχυρά αλληλοσυσχετιζόμενων χωρικών μονάδων. Η εκ των υστέρων αναζήτηση κοινών ποιοτήτων στα μέλη των τύπων και ο εντοπισμός επαναλαμβανόμενων συνδυασμών χαρακτηριστικών στοχεύει τόσο στην περιγραφή των εξεταζόμενων άτυπων χώρων όσο και στη σύνδεση μη περιγράψιμων ποιοτήτων με συστάδες μετρήσιμων πλέον χαρακτηριστικών. Η διαδικασία περιγραφής, συγκριτικής ανάλυσης και κατηγοριοποίησης άτυπων χώρων επιδιώκει τη σταδιακή διάκριση δομών, που δεν είναι δυνατό να εντοπιστούν εκ των προτέρων, μέσα από διαδοχικές μεταγραφές των δεδομένων μεταξύ αναπαραστατικών χώρων διαφορετικού πλήθους διαστάσεων. Η προτεινόμενη μεθοδολογία αποτελεί ένα συνδυασμό υφιστάμενων τεχνικών και αλγορίθμων που προέρχονται από διαφορετικά επιστημονικά πεδία. Οι δυνατότητες διαχείρισης πολυδιάστατων δεδομένων και πολυπαραγοντικών προβλημάτων που προσφέρουν οι εφαρμοζόμενες αλγοριθμικές τεχνικές και μέθοδοι ανάλυσης δεδομένων συμβάλλουν στη συγκρότηση ενός μοντέλου πολλαπλής θεώρησης συσχετισμών που ενσωματώνει με τρόπο συνεκτικό ετερογενείς περιγραφές σε ένα ενιαίο και ανοιχτό σύστημα.	el
heal.abstract	This thesis attempts the formulation of a tool for spatial description through the comparative analysis and classification of atypical spatial formations, based on the simultaneous and equal consideration of multiple quantifiable spatial attributes. Τhis investigation examines the possibility of structuring spatial descriptions that conform with the multiplicity of spatial cognition and manage the inadequacy in describing and measuring vague spatial attributes that are fundamental for the understanding of space and therefore for its design. In terms of methodology, it is attempted to describe atypical, undesigned and residual open spaces, that do not exhibit explicit formal, typological, structural or even geometrical characteristics, but are nevertheless characterized by perceptually recognizable and intuitively traceable vague qualities. The proposed method is based on the quantification of multiple spatial attributes of different classes and their comparison in a mathematically defined multidimensional feature space. The comparative analysis of these multidimensional descriptions aims at the extraction of distinct types, in terms of groups of intensely interrelated spaces. The a posteriori detection of common qualities amongst the members of the types and of repetitive combinations of attributes aims at the description of the atypical spaces under investigation and the association of indescribable qualities with clusters of quantifiable attributes. The process of description, comparative analysis and classification of atypical spaces aims at the gradual identification of structures, which are untraceable a priori, through consecutive transcriptions of spatial data between representational spaces of varying dimensionality. The proposed methodology constitutes a combination of existing techniques and algorithms, coming from different scientific fields. The implemented algorithmic techniques and data analysis methods offer possibilities of managing multidimensional data and multivariate problems that contribute to the formulation of a model for the multiple consideration of interrelations that cohesively incorporates heterogeneous descriptions within a unified and open system.	en
