heal.abstract	Σκοπός της εργασίας είναι η αντιμετώπιση του κτιρίου της Δημοτικής Αγοράς στην Αθηένου, αλλά και της πλατείας που βρίσκεται σε άμεσο διάλογο με αυτή, ως ενιαίο πολεοδομικό σύνολο στο δήμο. Η Αγορά, κτισμένη κατά την περίοδο του μοντέρνου στην Κύπρο, αν και λειτούργησε από τα πρώτα χρόνια ύπαρξής της σε άμεση σχέση με την πλατεία, τα τελευταία χρόνια περιέπεσε σε παρακμή λόγω της τουρκικής εισβολής στο νησί, αλλά και της λειτουργίας σύγχρονων υπεραγορών. Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τη σημασία του κτιρίου ιστορικά, πολεοδομικά και αρχιτεκτονικά, προτείνω την επανάχρησή του με εμπόριο τοπικών προϊόντων του δήμου. Σκοπός είναι να τονωθεί η τοπική οικονομία, να δημιουργηθούν καινούριες θέσεις εργασίας, να ενισχυθεί ο πρωτογενής τομέας και η σχέση παραγωγού - καταναλωτή, οδηγώντας στη μείωση των τιμών, την ενίσχυση της αγροτικής συνείδησης, την προβολή της τοπικής παραγωγής και της κοινωνικής ενσωμάτωσης των κατοίκων. Για να ανακτήσει η περιοχή την ένταση του παρελθόντος, συμπληρώνω χρήσεις ήπιας αναψυχής και πολιτισμού για κάθε ηλικία, όπως εστιατόριο σε άμεση σχέση με την αγορά και αίθουσα πολλαπλών χρήσεων που θα ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες της κοινότητας. Παράλληλα, προτείνω την αναδιαμόρφωση του προαυλίου του ναού, σε άμεση πλέον επικοινωνία με την Αγορά, εμπλουτίζοντάς την με χώρους ανάπαυσης, παιχνιδιού και εκπαιδευτικών δραστηριοτήτων, οι οποίες της προσδίδουν ταυτότητα και ζωντάνια καθ’ όλη τη διάρκεια της ημέρας. Βασικό σχεδιαστικό εργαλείο αποτελεί η φύτευση και το υδάτινο στοιχείο, που προσδίδουν ενδιαφέρουσες ποιότητες στο σύνολο.	el
heal.abstract	This dissertation aims to combine and examine the building of the Municipal Market in Athienou and the Square that lies ahead, the function of which actually relies on the above mentioned building, as an urban entirety. The Market, built during the Cypriot modernism, used to co-exist and cooperate with the Square, but lately has started to decline due to the Turkish invasion of the island and the existence of modern supermarkets. Taking into account the historical, urban and architectural value of the building, I suggest the reuse of it, promoting the traditional and local products of the town. The aim is to stimulate the local economy, create new job positions, strengthen the primary sector and the relationship between the producer and the consumer. As a result this will lead to lower prices, strengthen the rural consciousness, promote the local production and social integration of the citizens. The use of mild recreation and culture suitable for all ages are added, such as a restaurant in direct connection with the market and a multipurpose hall that will meet the needs of the community, in order for this area to regain the glamour of the past. At the same time, I propose remodeling of the courtyard of the church, now in direct communication with the market, enriching it with areas of rest, game parks and educational activities that will impart identity and vividness throughout the day. The main design tool used, is the planting and the water element that enhance the overall quality of the landscape.	en
