heal.abstract	Η Θεσσαλονίκη είναι η δεύτερη πιο σημαντική αυτοκρατορική πόλη της Βυζαντινής Αυτοκρατορίας, καθώς και το σπουδαιότερο λιμάνι των Βαλκανίων˙ μια πόλη-σταθμός στην Εγνατία οδό, το συνδετικό άξονα Ανατολής και Δύσης που διανύει την πόλη, από την ίδρυσή της μέχρι σήμερα. Ο σημερινός πολεοδομικός ιστός της Θεσσαλονίκης έχει σημαδευτεί από δύο μεγάλα γεγονότα που προκάλεσαν βίαιες μεταβολές μέσα στον 20ο αιώνα˙ τη μεγάλη πυρκαγιά του 1917 και τις εκσκαφές για την κατασκευή του Μετρό. Πάρα ταύτα, η Θεσσαλονίκη διατηρεί ακόμα, μέσα στα τείχη της, ένα μεγάλο αριθμό σημαντικών μνημείων διαφόρων ιστορικών περιόδων, των οποίων η αξία θα μπορούσε να αποτελέσει δυναμικό μέρος του πολεοδομικού ιστού και στόχο κάθε μελλοντικού αστικού ανασχεδιασμού. Με καταγωγή από τη Θεσσαλονίκη, και εμπνεόμενη από τα ευρήματα που ήρθαν στο φως κατά τις ανασκαφές στα εργοτάξια του Μετρό, εκατέρωθεν της οδού Εγνατίας, μου γεννήθηκε το όραμα αναβίωσης της πόλης μέσα από την ανάδειξη τεκμηρίων της διαχρονικά ένδοξης ιστορίας της, ενσωματώνοντας τα μνημεία διαφόρων ιστορικών περιόδων στον ιστό της, ώστε να αποκατασταθεί η ιστορική συνέχεια και να λάβει ζωτικό ρόλο στην καθημερινή ζωή των πολιτών, αλλά και να βελτιώσει την αρχιτεκτονική της εικόνα.	el
heal.abstract	Thessaloniki is the second most important imperial city of the Byzantine Empire and the greatest Balkan harbor throughout its history; a city-station on via Egnatia, the ligament between East and West world and the core axis of the city, from its foundation until present days. Today’s urban tissue of Thessaloniki was marked by two major events which have caused violent alterations in the 20th century; the big fire of 1917 and the excavations due to the construction of the underground railway. Nevertheless, Thessaloniki still preserves within its walls a multitude of significant monuments from various periods of its history, the value of which can become a dynamic part of the urban tissue and the aim of any future planning reconsideration. Being a native, and inspired by the archaeological findings, which were brought to light during the excavations for the underground railway along the Egnatia, triggered my vision of the city’s revival by preserving the tokens of its diachronically glorious history. This could be obtained by incorporating the monuments of different historical periods within the urban tissue, so that they present a coherent and readable historical evolution, and partake a vital role within the city’s everyday life, as well as improve its architectural aspect.	en
