heal.abstract | This lecture deals with the subject of flexible housing and how it is presented through three important examples in the history of architecture. I analyzed examples of three different architects, who lived in different seasons with different beliefs, needs, conditions (economical, social, political, cultural), and technological data. As a common base, all three want a flexible house with the involvement of future users in the design, but also their active role in the home. The three examples have completely different features, but all three try to contribute to the evolution of housing and turn it into what Le Corbusier called "a machine for living", implying that a habitation must function as a machine like all others. To achieve this, they study, adopt, reinterpret the five points of Le Corbusier's architecture and ultimately incorporate each one in their own unique way. Physical and mental alertness is a necessary condition for someone in order to live in one of the above residences. Between the building and the users there is a continuously changing relationship of action-reaction, a continuous dynamic development that definitely contributed to the evolution of the dwelling machine. | en |
