heal.abstract	Το Αιγαίο νοείται ως μια γεωγραφική και πολιτισμική ενότητα που συγκροτεί τρόπον τινά μια χωρική, ιστορική και πνευματική ιδέα ολότητας. Από τη «γραφική» απλότητα των ασπρισμένων σπιτιών , την πρωτογενή πλαστικότητα των κυκλαδικών ειδωλίων και των μαρμάρινων κούρων, το άρωμα των αμπελιών, την τραχύτητα του ορυκτού εδάφους, ως τη μαγεία του αυγουστιάτικου ήλιου και την σχεδόν ιεροτελεστική σωματική και πνευματική απογύμνωση του καλοκαιριού, το ελληνικό Αρχιπέλαγος είναι εγκατεστημένο στη συλλογική μνήμη σε μια ιδεατή κατάσταση, ως ένα νοητό σχήμα, ως gestalt. Υπάρχει, όμως, υπό κάποια μορφή «συλλογική αντίληψη» για αυτόν τον τόπο και αν ναι, πώς και πότε συγκροτείται; Με βάση την υπόθεση ότι η αντίληψη για έναν τόπο εξαρτάται από το «πού στέκεται κανείς και προς τα πού κοιτά» το δοκίμιο αυτό μεταχειρίζεται τις έννοιες του Υποκειμενισμού και του Φαντασιακού για να εξετάσει το πώς ένας τόπος δύναται να κατασκευαστεί φαντασιακά τόσο ατομικά όσο και συλλογικά, με ποιο πρόσχημα και με τί αντίκρισμα. Το βλέμμα μας στο Αιγαίο στρέφεται πίσω στο πρώτο μισό του 20ου αιώνα, όπου το -τότε- βλέμμα έλκεται στην διασταύρωση του παραδοσιακού και του προϊστορικού με το Μοντέρνο. Το Μοντέρνο, ως σύστημα σκέψης και ως Λόγος (discourse) συγκροτεί ένα «συλλογικό Υποκείμενο» που «βλέπει». Βλέπει το ίδιο από παντού και πόσο, άραγε, έχει επηρεάσει τον τρόπο που εμείς κοιτάμε το Αρχιπέλαγος;	el
heal.abstract	The Aegean -despite its major complexities- is generally perceived as a geographical and cultural entity that constitutes a spatial and historical notion of a whole. From the picturesque simplicity of the whitewashed houses, the primordial plasticity of the cycladic figurines and the marble statues, the scent of the vineyards, the harshness of the mineral soil, to the lure of the august sun and the almost ritualistic nakedness of the summer, the Greek Archipelago is installed in the collective memory in an ideal state, as a conceivable schema: a gestalt. Is there, though, a “collective perception” for this “topos” and, if so, how and when is it composed? Under the assumption that one’s perception of a place depends on “where they are standing and where they are looking at”, this thesis employs the notions of the Imaginary and Subjectivity in order to examine how place and space can be seen as an Imaginary Construct – individually or collectively, within what pretext and with what kind of aftermath. Our gaze towards the Aegean Archipelago turns back to the first half of the 20th century, when the interest is attracted in the junction of the pre-historic, the traditional and the Modern. Modernism, as a style of thought as well as a discourse, constitutes a “Collective Subject” that sees/gazes. Is the gaze similar from every standpoint? Up to which level has it affected our way of looking at the Archipelago?	en
