heal.abstract	Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία πραγματεύεται την δημιουργία ενός προσφυγικού νεκροταφείου στη Λέσβο. Αφορμή για εμάς ήταν η ταφή περίπου 70 ανθρώπων μετά από ένα μεγάλο ναυάγιο (28 Οκτώβρη 2015) σε έναν ελαιώνα στο Κάτω Τρίτος, ένα χωριό 20 λεπτά από την Μυτιλήνη. Δίνοντας ιδιαίτερη έμφαση σε έννοιες όπως η μνήμη, η απώλεια και το πένθος προσπαθούμε να σχεδιάσουμε αυτό τον ιδιόμορφο χώρο ταφής. Οι άτυπες ταφές που πραγματοποιήθηκαν τον Νοέμβρη του 2015, διατηρούν την συλλογική μνήμη στο χώρο και λειτουργούν ως ενεργό μνημείο. Αντίθετα, οι νέες ταφές αποτελούν τα θραύσματα τις συλλογικής μνήμης, δηλαδή την ατομική. Το νεκροταφείο αυτό, προσπαθεί να καλύψει τις ανάγκες τόσο του προσφυγικού/μεταναστευτικού πληθυσμού που βρίσκεται στο νησί καθώς και κάθε «ξένου». Μεταξύ του μνημείου και των νέων χώρων ταφής, σαν μια ρωγμή στο τοπίο υπάρχει ο μεταβατικός χώρος/κατώφλι. Εκεί κανείς βρίσκεται στο ενδιάμεσο και προετοιμάζεται για αυτό που θα επακολουθήσει. Στον χώρο αυτό ενυπάρχουν πορείες, πορείες πένθους μεταξύ μνήμης και λήθης.	el
heal.abstract	The present senior thesis addresses the creation of a refugee cemetery on the island of Lesbos. The triggering event for us was the burial of about seventy people, following a tragic shipwreck (October 28 2015), in an olive grove near Kato Tritos, a village 20 minutes’ drive from the town of Mitilini. Placing great emphasis on notions such as memory, loss and mourning, we try to design this peculiar burial ground. On the one hand, the place where the nonstandard burials were performed, in November 2015, is preserved to act as the collective memory and to function as an operative monument. On the other hand, the new burial grounds constitute the shards of the collective memory, that is, they constitute the private memory. This cemetery tries to meet the needs not only of the refugee population on the island but also of any ‘foreigner’. Traversing the middle ground between the old and new burial sites, resembling a fracture in the landscape, there is a transitional space, the threshold to the cemetery. Finding oneself there, one is being prepared for what is to follow. This space is fraught with routes, routes of bereavement between memory and oblivion.	en
