heal.abstract	Η υπό το έδαφος «κατοίκηση» αποτελεί ένα διαχρονικό φαινόμενο. Σήμερα, το ενδιαφέρον είναι μεγάλο καθώς υπάρχουν πολλές μελέτες, αλλά και πραγματοποιημένα έργα που αφορούν στον υπόσκαφο χώρο, από την κλίμακα του κτιρίου έως αυτήν της πόλης. Τα ιδιαίτερα χαρακτηριστικά του, τον καθιστούν έναν πολύ ενδιαφέροντα τύπο χώρου που ικανοποιεί τις σύγχρονες ανάγκες για κατασκευές φιλικές προς το περιβάλλον και το τοπίο, καθώς και τις απαιτήσεις της πόλης για νέους χώρους και ταυτόχρονα ελεύθερους χώρους. Τα σύγχρονα τεχνολογικά μέσα συμβάλλουν σημαντικά στην εξέλιξη της υπόσκαφης αρχιτεκτονικής δίνοντας λύσεις σε πολλές από τις δυσκολίες που πηγάζουν από τη «βύθιση» ενός κτιρίου κάτω από το έδαφος. Ωστόσο, ο σωστός σχεδιασμός είναι πολύ σημαντικός ώστε ο υπόσκαφος χώρος να αποτελεί ένα βιώσιμο περιβάλλον. Η παρούσα εργασία αναλύει τον αρχιτεκτονικό υπόσκαφο χώρο. Αρχικά γίνεται μια εισαγωγή στην υπό το έδαφος «κατοίκηση» κυρίως μέσα από παραδείγματα που προκύπτουν από τη μελέτη της ιστορίας και της παράδοσης. Στη συνέχεια εστιάζει στα ζητήματα που σχετίζονται με τον σωστό σχεδιασμό του υπόσκαφου χώρου και αναλύει σύγχρονες εφαρμογές της υπόσκαφης αρχιτεκτονικής δημόσιας χρήσης, παρουσιάζοντας τις δυνατότητες και προοπτικές ανάπτυξής της με βάση τις ανάγκες της σύγχρονης εποχής.	el
heal.abstract	Underground "living" is a timeless phenomenon. Nowadays, there is a great interest on the subject, as there are many studies, as well as realized works related to underground space, from small scale (building) to large scale (city). Its’ special features make it a very interesting type of space that meets the modern needs for environmentally friendly and landscape-friendly construction, as well as the cities' requirements for new spaces as well as for free spaces. Today’s technology contributes significantly to the development of the underground architecture by providing solutions to many of the difficulties arising from the “sinking” of a building under the ground. However, a good design is very important for the underground space to be a viable environment. This paper analyzes the architectural underground space. In the beginning, an introduction to the underground "living" is made through examples deriving from history and tradition. After that, the focus goes to issues related to the design of the underground space and to the analysis of modern applications of underground public architecture, presenting the possibilities and prospects for its development, based on the needs of the modern era.	en
