heal.abstract	Το σύνορο είναι ταυτόχρονα απάντηση και ερώτημα… Αποτελεί απάντηση στη σύγκρουση, γίνεται ερώτημα στην υπέρβαση και απαντά ξανά με φραγμό. Η ύπαρξή του ανοίγει το ζήτημα των ορατών και αόρατων διασχίσεων, ενός ορατού και αόρατου τείχους... Έχοντας ως πεδίο αναφοράς τη Νεκρή Ζώνη στην Κύπρο, ένα πολύ ισχυρό σύνορο-όριο, αυτός ο προβληματισμός αποτέλεσε την αφορμή για την παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία η οποία επιχειρεί τόσο να πάρει μια θέση στον προβληματισμό, όσο και να προτείνει μια πιθανή απάντηση στο ερώτημα, κατά πόσο η αρχιτεκτονική μπορεί ακόμη, να επέμβει και να διαχειριστεί καταστάσεις κοινωνικού τραύματος, να ενσαρκώσει μνήμη και να εκφράσει συναίσθημα . Η διπλωματική εργασία αφορά τη δημιουργία μιας χωρικής εμπειρίας μνήμης, μίας βιωματική εμπειρίας η οποία επιδιώκει μέσο του αρχιτεκτονικού χώρου να προκαλέσει συναισθήματα και αναμοχλεύσει τη μνήμη αναφορικά με το σύγχρονο παρελθόν του τόπου. Η παρέμβαση τοποθετείτε στη Νεκρή Ζώνη, στην πρωτεύουσα της Κύπρου, την Λευκωσία και πιο συγκεκριμένα στο σημείο τομής του τεχνητού αυτού ορίου με ένα φυσικό όριο, τον Πεδιαίο ποταμό. Η Νεκρή Ζώνη, ή επίσημα Γραμμή κατάπαυσης του πυρός, όντας από το 1974 η γραμμή διαχωρισμού της Νότιας (ελεύθερη) με την Βόρεια (κατεχόμενη) Κύπρο, είναι συνυφασμένη με τον πόλεμο αποτελώντας υλική του απόδειξη. Είναι μια ακατέργαστη λωρίδα γης παραδομένη στο χρόνο και την εγκατάλειψη, πεδίο αναφοράς για την μνήμη του τόπου. Αντίθετα, ο Πεδιαίος ποταμός, σημείο αναφοράς για την ίδρυση και την εξέλιξη της πόλης αποτελεί σύμβολο και πηγή ζωής. Διασχίζει ολόκληρη την πόλη από νότο προς βορρά, διαπερνώντας την Νεκρή ζώνη δημιουργώντας τον προβληματισμό αν αποτελεί όριο ή σύνδεση. Ο αντιφατικός αυτός τόπος, το σημείο τομής τεχνητού και φυσικού ορίου, το σημείο τομής συνέχειας ασυνέχειας, ζωής και θανάτου, γίνεται ο χώρος υποδοχής για τις μνήμες των κατοίκων, γίνεται χώρος διαλόγου, χώρος προβληματισμού, χώρος ερώτησης και ίσως απάντησης για το παρελθόν το παρόν και το μέλλον αυτού του τόπου.	el
heal.abstract	Τhe limit is at the same time answer and question. Is the answer to the conflict, it turns to be a question of the transgression but again it answers with a limit. Its existence raises the issue of visible and invisible crossings, of a visible and invisible wall. Having as reference point the Dead Zone in Cyprus, a very powerful limit-barrier, the existing thesis project was initiated, which is attempting to take sides on the topic as well as to provide a potential answer to the issue, if architecture can still handle situations where there is a social trauma, to incorporate memories and express feelings.. The thesis refers to the creation of a spatial memorial experience, an experience which aims through the architectural space to provoke sentiments and inflame the memory of the later past, of the country. The intervention takes place at the Dead Zone, in the capital city of Cyprus, Nicosia and more specifically at the point of intersec¬tion of this artificial barrier with the natural one, the river Pedieos. The Dead Zone, is the separation line between the North and South Cyprus since 1974, is directly related to the war as it has been materialistic proof. It is a raw piece of earth, isolated and for¬gotten in time, a reference point for the memory of the country. On the other hand, Pedieos river, the reference point for the establish¬ment and evolution of the town it is the source and the symbol of life. This contradictory place, the point of intersection of the artifi¬cial with the natural barrier, the intersection point of the continu¬ity and the discontinuity, life, and death, becomes the welcoming area for the inhabitants’ memory, becomes the discussion point, point of question and reflection and even a place where answers for the past, the present and the future of this country can be found.	en
