heal.abstract	Αντικείμενο της διάλεξης είναι το μοντέλο της πυκνής και συμπαγούς δόμησης, ως προς την επίδρασή του στη βιωσιμότητα και ειδικότερα στην προστασία του περιβάλλοντος και την ποιότητα ζωής. Το φαινόμενο της αστικής διάχυσης και η κατανόηση των προβλημάτων του οδηγεί στην εξέταση μιας ενδιαφέρουσας λύσης, αυτής της συμπαγούς πόλης. Για το σκοπό αυτό παρουσιάζονται τα πλεονεκτήματά της για την προστασία του περιβάλλοντος, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη εκ των πραγμάτων και κοινωνικές παραμέτρους. Για την περαιτέρω εμβάθυνση, η εργασία εστιάζει ακολούθως σε μικρότερες κλίμακες, αυτές του κτιρίου και ενός τμήματος της πόλης, διερευνώντας, τη σχέση της συμπαγούς μορφής με την ενεργειακή της απόδοση. Ακολουθεί η κριτική θεώρηση της πυκνής και συμπαγούς δόμησης με την παρουσίαση σειράς προβλημάτων του μοντέλου αυτού και προτείνονται ορισμένα κριτήρια σχεδιασμού που συνεισφέρουν στην βελτίωσή του, με στόχο την ευχάριστη αποδοχή του από τον άνθρωπο. Μέσω της σύνθεσης των στοιχείων που παρουσιάζονται, συμπεραίνεται ότι η υιοθέτηση του μοντέλου της πυκνής δόμησης, παρά τα μειονεκτήματά του, αποτελεί ίσως μία βιώσιμη λύση στην προσπάθεια προστασίας του περιβάλλοντος και ενδυνάμωσης της κοινωνίας. Για την επιτυχία του μοντέλου αυτού, απαραίτητος είναι ο υπολογισμός παραμέτρων ευζωίας, τόσο στην κλίμακα της πόλης όσο και στην μικρότερη κλίμακα. Προαπαιτούμενο όμως είναι και η προθυμία του ίδιου του ανθρώπου να θέσει την επίτευξη ενός κοινού οράματος πάνω από την προσωπική του ικανοποίηση.	el
heal.abstract	The subject of this dissertation project is the model of the compact city with respect to its effect on sustainability and in particular, the protection of the environment and the quality of life. The phenomenon of urban sprawl and the apprehension of its problems lead to the investigation of an interesting solution, that of the compact city. Presented, for that reason, are its benefits to the protection of the environment, while also taking real social factors into consideration. For further insight, the project focuses on smaller scales, those of the building and of a section of the city, looking into the correlation between the compact form and its energy efficiency. Subsequently, comes a critical reconsideration of the model of compact and dense urban forms through a presentation of its various problems. In order to improve public acceptance, design criteria that contribute to its improvement are proposed. Through a combination of the presented matters, it is concluded that, despite its disadvantages, the adoption of a compact and dense city could perhaps constitute a viable solution to the effort of protecting the environment and strengthening the society. For the success of this model, certain criteria of well-being, both on the city scale and smaller scales should be taken into account.
