heal.abstract	Η αναζήτηση διαφορετικών τοπίων, πολιτισμών και κατ’ επέκταση αρχιτεκτονικών -χωρικών είτε κοινωνικών- τοποθέτησε το κέντρο της διπλωματικής μακριά απ’ τα γνωστά μας χωρικά πλαίσια, στην ήπειρο της Αφρικής. Η Γκάνα, που σήμερα φιλοξενεί τη μεγαλύτερη χωματερή ηλεκτρονικών αποβλήτων στον κόσμο, αποτέλεσε την κοιτίδα του δικού μας οράματος για πόλη γεννημένη από τα απομεινάρια ενός άτεχνα κατακερματισμένου υλικού. Η προσοχή μας στράφηκε στο Agbogbloshie, το απόκρυφο καταφύγιο 30.000 Γκανέζων, που ζουν συνωστισμένοι σε 36,3 εκτάρια γης, στην καρδιά της πρωτεύουσας Άκκρα. Οι κάτοικοι αυτού του αστικού θύλακα εργάζονται ανεπίσημα, διαχειριζόμενοι 171 χιλιάδες τόνους αποβλήτων ετησίως, κατοικώντας ουσιαστικά σε μια ανοικτή χωματερή, συγκεντρώνοντας το πλεόνασμα της συνεχώς αυξανόμενης δυτικής τεχνολογικής παραγωγής. Εμείς επιλέξαμε να κοιτάξουμε το πρόβλημα από μια άλλη σκοπιά. Μέσω της διπλωματικής μας, δεν βλέπουμε το Agbogbloshie ως μια στατική χωματερή, αλλά ως ένα παραγωγικό τόπο ανακύκλωσης και αναδημιουργίας των ηλεκτρονικών αποβλήτων. Ορμώμενες από την επινοητικότητα των κατοίκων, την ικανότητά τους να αποσυναρμολογούν, να μεταποιούν και να επαναχρησιμοποιούν, όσα φαίνονται άχρηστα ή περιττά, αντιπροτείνουμε ένα οργανωμένο και παραγωγικό δίκτυο στη θέση των κρατικών σχεδίων για έξωση και εκκαθάριση. Συγκεκριμένα, προτείνουμε τη δημιουργία μιας οργανωμένης και εξοπλισμένης μονάδας ανακύκλωσης των ΑΗΗΕ, η οποία θα συμπληρώνεται από μια εκτεταμένη οικιστική ζώνη 30.000 κατοίκων, γύρω από τον ποταμό Odaw, το υδάτινο ρεύμα που σήμερα διασχίζει το Agbogbloshie και μεταφέρει τους ρύπους στον παρακείμενο Ατλαντικό Ωκεανό. Τα εργαστήρια επισκευής και αναδημιουργίας, που σήμερα βρίσκονται διάσπαρτα στην περιοχή, συγκεντρώνονται και οργανώνονται ώστε να δημιουργήσουν ένα νέο παραγωγικό συγκρότημα. Ακολουθεί μια εμπορική ζώνη, η οποία ζωντανεύει με την αναβίωση του παλιού σιδηροδρομικού σταθμού, που βρίσκεται στα σύνορα της σημερινής παραγκούπολης. Ουσιαστικά, προτείνεται μια ολιστική προσέγγιση σε ένα πολυεπίπεδο ζήτημα, σε μια αναζήτηση σημείων τομής και συνύπαρξης φαινομενικά ασυμβίβαστων χρήσεων. Επιχειρείται μια εκ νέου σύνδεση της βιομηχανίας με τη διαβίωση, σε μια προσπάθεια δημιουργίας ενός παραγωγικού χώρου, ικανού να ανατροφοδοτήσει την πόλη τόσο με προϊόν όσο και με εργασία.	el
heal.abstract	The project, originated by an impulsive search of new and urgent cityscapes, almost deliberately found itself sited on the continent of Africa. Ghana, home of the largest e-waste dump in the word, hosted the vision for a new way of living, a city rising from the ashes of burnt wire and dust. Our focus came to Agbogbloshie, the unspoken home of 30,000 Ghanaians, who live crowded in 36.3 hectares of land, in the heart of capital Accra. Residents in this ‘ur-ban fraction’ work informally, handling 171 thousand tons of waste a year, practically living in an open landfill, gathering the surplus of the ever-growing Western technology production. We chose to convert the perspective that sees Agbogbloshie as a static dump, into that of an active field of e-waste recycling and regeneration. Driven by the resident’s ingenuity, their ability to dismantle, convert and reuse what most see as broken and dispen-sable, we oppose an organised and productive network to the state’s official plans for clearance and eviction. In particular, we propose the creation of an organized and equipped WEEE recycling facility, giving room to an extensive habi-tat zone for 30,000 people spreading around the river Odaw, the aquatic stream that today runs through Agbogbloshie, carrying the loads of contamination to the adjacent Atlantic Ocean. The repair and regeneration laboratories that are currently scattered along the area are now gathered and formulated to create a productive cluster, leading to a final commercial zone, which comes to life through the revival of the old railway station that sits on the bor-der of the present slum. Essentially, the proposal suggests a holistic approach to a multi-levelled issue, the concurrence and complementarity of what are seemingly incompatible uses, relinking industry to living, in an at-tempt to sculpt a productive space able to re-cater the city both with product and employment.	en
