The major issue of this diploma thesis is the analytical estimation of a
n underground bauxite
mining cost.
For this reason, it is planned and developed a standard
underground mining,
based
on which we examine the various procedural stages, we estimate the resources needed for their
execution and finally, we make the relevant
cost estimation. The primary scope of this thesis
constitutes the evaluation of different optimal practices, with the affiliation of which it will be
achieved a significant cost reduction of
mined product.
Thus, various alternative solutions and
planning
c
ases are analyzed and presented and
, subsequently, we estimate the level of impact of
each one to the final total cost.
The procedure of determining the optimal processes includes also an estimation of the
duration calculation of tasks, their time managem
ent and programming, and after that the
evaluation of production cost. The production cost can be divided into four categories:
o
Operating costs
o
Labor costs
o
Depreciation
o
Unpredictable costs
The combination of the above
-
mentioned costs, leads to the
optimal solution, with the
operating costs to be considered as the main source of cost for the
mining
and they are estimated
to be 41
% of total cost.
Apart from the optimal solution, cases of daily increase or decrease in production’s
capacity are also studied in this thesis. Subtracting the average daily productivity, it is observed
that the total cost of
yielding rises by
20
%
, with wages to be the lar
gest part of this proportion.
Similarly, increasing the
daily productivity by 3/2, total daily capacity’s
cost increases by
29
%,
while considering the operating costs to be the highest ones. All the above lead to a relative
connection between
mining costs
-
daily production
.
The determinant variable in production’s cost calculation is the quality of
rock
mass of
ore
, as it was founded by the relevant analysis. In cases where reduced RMR is observed, it is
necessary to reduce of the average
progression
by explosion and the thickening of
nailing of
cei
ling. Thus, the total cost of mining
, seems to be risi
ng by
93
% in comparison to the optimal
solution due to the high support cost.
Finally, we examine the case of different mechanical equipment usage and, m
ore
specifically, the use of the machinery of
Mobile Unit Pumping
emulsion explosive
which
constitutes the
upcoming trend in the area of mining
. The significant reduction in time of
pumping, approximately at 1/
3
, will cause the general
mining
cost to drop by
2
