heal.abstract	Η παρούσα έρευνα έχει ως αντικείμενο τη διερεύνηση της έννοιας της άρθρωσης στην αρχιτεκτονική, μέσα από μία αντιστοίχιση με την άρθρωση στο ανθρώπινο σώμα. Ορίζοντας την άρθρωση, αρχικά θεμελιώνεται μία θεωρητική βάση σύμφωνα με την οποία οι αρθρώσεις στην αρχιτεκτονική διακρίνονται σε “δομικές” και “χωρικές”, ανάλογα με τα χαρακτηριστικά, τη θέση και το ρόλο τους μέσα σε ένα αρχιτεκτονικό σώμα. Διαμορφώνεται, έτσι, η έννοια του “αρθρωτού χώρου”, μέσα από τη σαφή οριοθέτηση των χωρικών αλλά και συμβολικών του στοιχείων. Στη συνέχεια αναλύεται η έννοια του ενδιάμεσου χώρου και γίνεται η διάκρισή του σε μεταβατικό και κατωφλιακό,ώστε να επιτευχθεί η αναγωγή και ο χαρακτηρισμός του ως “χωρική άρθρωση”. Έπειτα, η μελέτη τριών έργων του Steven Holl (“Storefront for Art & Architecture” Gallery, “Kiasma”Museum of Contemporary Art, “Void Space/Hinged Space” Housing) γίνεται μέσα από αυτήν την έννοια του αρθρωτού χώρου, και με σκοπό τον εντοπισμό του τρόπου με τον οποίο ο αρχιτέκτονας χειρίζεται την άρθρωση ως συνθετικό στοιχείο. Τελικά, εξάγεται μία τυπολογία τριών τρόπων χειρισμού της χωρικής άρθρωσης: η χωρική άρθρωση ως κατώφλι, ως μετάβαση, ως παράγωγο της δομικής άρθρωσης.	el
heal.abstract	This paper investigates the concept of articulation (or “arthrosis”) in architecture, through a pairing to the joints of the human body. Firstly, a theoretical base is founded through the definition of articulation, according to which the “joints/arthroses” in architecture are arranged into two categories: “structural” and “spatial”, according to the characteristics, the place and the role they have in the architectural body. Thus, the concept of “hinged space” is being constructed, through a concrete demarcation of its spatial and symbolic elements. Furthermore, the concept of the in-between space is analyzed and then distinguished into two categories: Transitions and thresholds. The aim of this division is their characterisation as a “spatial arthroses (joints)”. This paper also analyzes three works of Steven Holl (“Storefront for Art & Architecture” Gallery, “Kiasma”Museum of Contemporary Art, “Void Space/Hinged Space” Housing) in order to recognize the concept of “hinged space” in them, as well as the way the architect uses articulation in different ways as a design tool. Finally, the conclusion deals with forming a typology of “spatial arthrosis” and the way it can be used as a design principle: as a threshold, as a transition and as a result of the structural joint.	en
