heal.abstract	Our diploma project is a Community Center in the Drapetsona area of Piraeus. Since the beginning, we aimed to design a structure which would have an impact on the local community, and that would set serving the public as a priority. The area and municipality of Drapetsona, has a long history, spanning from the antiquity, to the more recent historical eras, where it hosted a large number of heavy industries, and served as a refuge for the greek populations fleeing Turkey in the 1920’s. Thus, we assessed that it was the ideal blank canvas on which we could design. The stagnation and underdevelopment of the area nowadays, dictated the need for a concept that would reenvigorate it, bring back the neighborhood feeling and condensate the erroded social fabric.We put together a scenario that interlinks different social groups with varying needs and sensibilities, which through activities and social interaction, could support one another. The design process takes into account not only the surrounding area, but also the ancient history, creating a dialogue, that the visitor can see unfolding before his eyes.	en
heal.abstract	Η διπλωματικής μας έχει ως θέμα ένα Κέντρο Κοινότητας στη Δραπετσώνα. Από την αρχή, επιθυμούσαμε αντικείμενο του σχεδιασμού μας να είναι κάποια δομή σε τοπικό επίπεδο, που θα μπορούσε να προσφέρει τόσο σε μεμονωμένες κοινωνικές ομάδες, όσο και στο σύνολο της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Η περιοχή της Δραπετσώνας είναι ένας τόπος με ιστορία αρχαία, βιομηχανική και προσφυγική, και έτσι θεωρήσαμε ότι είναι ο ιδανικός λευκός καμβάς πάνω στον οποίο θα μπορούσαμε να σχεδιάσουμε. Η υποβάθμιση και η στασιμότητα που επικρατεί στην περιοχή σήμερα, μας υπαγόρεψε την ανάγκη για τη σχεδιαστική σύλληψη ενός χώρου που θα μπορέσει, έως ένα βαθμό, να προσδώσει στην περιοχή χαρακτηριστικά γειτονιάς και κοινωνικής πύκνωσης. Προσπαθήσαμε λοιπόν να δημιουργήσουμε ένα σενάριο που θα συνδέει διαφορετικές κοινωνικές ομάδες με ποικίλες ανάγκες και ευαισθησίες, οι οποίες μέσω αλληλεπίδρασης και δραστηριοτήτων, θα μπορούν να προσφέρουν η μία στην άλλη. Ο σχεδιασμός λαμβάνει υπόψιν τόσο τη γύρω περιοχή, όσο και την αρχαία ιστορία, και επιχειρεί να δημιουργήσει ένα διάλογο μεταξύ τους, τον οποίο ο επισκέπτης μπορεί να δει να ξετυλίγεται μπροστά του.	el
