heal.abstract The rapid increase in the use of private cars and the reduced level of serviceability of urban road networks, has contributed to increased traffic and increased travel time in cities. At the same time, environmental considerations impose the development of environmentally friendly and human-friendly transport systems. Technological development over the last few decades has contributed to the development of alternative forms of fuel for vehicles and hence for public transport, specially buses. Oil is no longer the only fuel in motion. In a short time, compressed gas technology (C.N.G) has gained ground in the markets. The trend of environmentally friendly vehicles and the requirements of the European Union, promotes technologies such as battery powered and hybrid electric buses. The purpose of this diploma thesis is to compare the different engine technologies to some key features that have been converted into cost and are energy reserves, energy consumption, air pollution, greenhouse gases, noise, distance traveled (without recharge or refueling). Vehicle maintenance and purchase costs were also used. For the evaluation process, the Topsis and Vikor methods were used to compare conventional coaches (diesel engines), compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, battery electric buses and hybrid buses according to some key criteria that emerged from the bibliographic review. en
