heal.abstract Greece is experiencing one of the deepest economic crises in its history in the modern era. This phenomenon seems not to be exclusively a Greek problem but a global one. The economic and social inequalities between people are intense in all the lengths and heights of the planet as a result of the accumulation of wealth in a few people. The economic dysregulation of the majority of the world's population in other regions has limited growth indicators, while others have brought them to levels of deep recession. In a wide range of countries in the world there are signs of severe decline at all levels of social life (e.g. education, health, culture) as a result of the prolonged economic crisis. The financial system both locally and globally shows strong signs of destabilization and the need for alternative forms of financial transactions is now more pronounced than in the most recent decades. A helping hand in these searches is the new IT and telecommunication technologies with prominent internet technologies. In fact, the explosion in the evolution of Internet technologies has brought about changes in both man's daily routine and important high-level processes on the international scene.The principle of internet access to financial transactions was made with online e-commerce applications. Initially, the consumer was skeptical, but later on it adopted e-commerce. A new innovative trend in financial transactions is bitcoin. It is a new relative proposal for doing financial transactions based on complex algorithms running on relatively high performance computers that are however accessible to the general public and Internet technologies. Although it is still early, the target of those involved in this new trend is to replace traditional financial transactions with the exchange of bitcoins. A feature of this new financial transaction methodology is the decentralized and distributed processes of value production as well as the fact that its management is only relevant to the parties involved in each transaction. The value-creation model through financial institutions is overcome and replaced by a different approach. Money generation is done through a technical process of great complexity to keep it safe. The value does not correspond to material (coins, banknotes, gold, etc.) but to digital data trafficked over the internet. Value management and handling is not controlled by any central authority but by the traders alone. Inflationary trends are effectively limited by the high complexity of the value process and the finite number to be marketed in each production cycle.Today Bitcoin is used alternately and alongside traditional trading methods. Its influence is growing stronger in the near future, however, seems to be unable to displace the traditional financial system. In order to do this, it must first of all become a process accessible to the ordinary citizen, but also to deal with ambiguous legal issues that have arisen with its appearance. en
