heal.abstract	Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία πραγματεύεται την αναβίωση ενός ερειπωμένου βιομηχανικού κελύφους στη παλαιά πόλη του Ρεθύμνου μέσω μιας συνειρμικής ανάκλισης των αισθήσεων. Tο ερείπιο αυτό είναι κάτι παραπάνω από μία αποσυντιθέμενη κατασκευή, είναι ένα κατάλοιπο μνήμης, ένα ενθύμιο της βιομηχανικής και μη ιστορίας του Ρεθύμνου, στο οποίο αποτυπώνονται στοιχεία από τις διαφορετικές ιστορικές φάσεις της. Η στρατηγική αναβίωσης του λοιπόν δεν πρεπει να συμμορφώνεται σε τετρημένες αρχιτεκτονικές παρεμβάσεις απλής παράθεσης, αλλά σε μια πιο ευαίσθητη, αισθητηριακή και με νοημα αρχιτεκτονική. Το πρώτο μέρος της εργασίας αφιερώνεται στη παλαιά πόλη του Ρεθύμνου. Πρόκειται για έναν μεσογειακό οικισμό που προβάλλει στον ιστό του όλες τις ιστορικές του φάσεις. Είναι ένα αστικό παλίμψηστο στο οποίο επιτρέπεται η ταυτόχρονη ανάγνωση του παρελθόντος, του παρόντος και του μέλλοντος. Αφού μελετηθούν τα μορφολογικά του στοιχεία και τα στάδια της πολεοδομικής του εξέλιξης, η μελέτη επικεντρώνεται στα βασικά χαρακτηριστικά που δομούν τον αστικό ιστό της παλιάς πόλης, εστιάζοντας στοχευμένα στην περιοχή μελέτης. Στο δεύτερο μέρος, γίνεται μια συστηματική μελέτη όσον αφορά την εξέλιξη της σαπουνοποιίας στο Ρέθυμνο, βασιζόμενη σε υλικό που προέρχεται από τις μαρτυρίες των σαπουνεργατών της περιόδου αυτης. Στην συνέχεια, εξετάζεται η μορφολογική εξέλιξη του ερειπίου ως ένα κτιριακό παλίμψηστο, με σκοπό να παραχθούν τα απαραίτητα σχεδιαστικά εργαλεία για την δημιουργία ενός καινούργιου διαλόγου μεταξύ του υπάρχοντος και της παρέμβασης. Τέλος, στο τρίτο μέρος της διπλωματικής αυτής, γίνεται μια πρόταση που στοχεύει την αναβίωση του ερειπίου αυτού μέσω μιας αρχιτεκτονικής προσέγγισης που βασιζεται στις αισθητηριακές και συνειρμικές προσλαμβάνουσες του χρήστη. Δημιουργείται ένα βιωματικό μουσείο που έχει στόχο να επαναφέρει την μνημη του σαπωνοποιείου μέσω της όσφρησης.	el
heal.abstract	This diploma thesis deals with the revival of a dilapidated industrial shell in the old town of Rethymnon, through an associative evocation of the senses. This ruin is more than just a deconstructed building, it is a remnant of memory of the industrial and non-industrial history of Rethymnon and depicts elements from the town’s different historical phases. Its revival strategy should therefore not conform to obsolete architectural interventions of simple exposition, but follow a more sensitive, sensory and meaningful architecture. The first part of the thesis is dedicated to the old town of Rethymnon. It is a Mediterranean settlement that displays on its web all the historical phases the town has been through. It is an urban palimpsest that allows the concurrent reading of the past, the present and the future. After studying the morphological features and the stages of its urban design development, the study focuses on the basic features that structure the urban web of the old city, mainly focusing on the study area. In the second part, there is a systematic study of the evolution of soap making in Rethymnon, based on material derived from the testimonies of soap makers of that period. Then, is examined the morphological evolution of the ruin as a building palimpsest, in order to make the necessary design tools for the creation of a new dialogue between the existing and the intervention. Finally, in the third part of the thesis, a proposal is made that aims to revive this ruin through an architectural approach based on the sensory and associative experiences of the user. An experiential museum is being created in order to restore the memory of the soap factory through the smell.	en
