heal.abstract	The aim of this diploma thesis is to study the corrosion effect on offshore structures as well as the methods of corrosion protection. The causes and mechanisms of corrosion, the types of corrosion in oil and gas platforms and the corrosion control are analyzed. More specifically, the coatings and the methods of cathodic protection are described in depth and the conjunction of coating with cathodic protection is investigated.	en
