heal.abstract | This thesis implements a Dynamic Positioning system into a rescue vessel with no blades or potential harmful gear. The work includes the design of the actuator system controlled by a microcontroller and the feedback sensors GPS/IMU providing data to the control system running on an embedded computer. All these electronic components have to be tested, calibrated and integrated into the final system. The control type chosen was a PID controller based on previous work on this project. The simulations for the controller tuning were established in the Matlab Simulink environment. The final thesis objective is to develop a PID controller that when combined with a careful integration of mechanical and electronic components can successfully maintain a vessel’s position and heading. | en |
