heal.abstract	Το θέμα της παρούσας εργασίας εστιάζει στην μελέτη της ιστορίας, την τεκμηρίωση της υπάρχουσας κατάστασης και των δυνατοτήτων ανάδειξης του σιδηροδρομικού μετρικού δικτύου της Πελοποννήσου, που τα τελευταία δέκα χρόνια παραμένει ανενεργό. Αρχικά, γίνεται αναφορά στην ιστορική πορεία του σιδηροδρόμου στην Ελλάδα και ειδικότερα του μετρικού δικτύου της Πελοποννήσου, προκειμένου να υπογραμμιστεί η αξία διατήρησής του ως αναπόσπαστο κομμάτι της βιομηχανικής κληρονομιάς. Μέσα από την ανάλυση των ιστορικών γεγονότων καταδεικνύονται οι λόγοι που οδήγησαν στην υποβάθμιση αυτού του μέσου στην Ελλάδα. Στη συνέχεια, το ενδιαφέρον στρέφεται στο αρχιτεκτονικό και κοινωνικό αποτύπωμα που άφησε ο σιδηρόδρομος στο πέρασμά του. Μέσα από επιτόπια έρευνα, επιχειρείται μια αναλυτική καταγραφή της κατάστασης του δικτύου από τους Μύλους Ναυπλίου μέχρι την Καλαμάτα. Πρόκειται για το κομμάτι του δικτύου με πολλούς αξιόλογους σταθμούς και μερικά από τα μεγαλύτερα τεχνικά έργα, που όμως παραμένει ανενεργό και βρίσκεται στο έλεος της φθοράς. Τέλος, εξετάζονται τα σενάρια που υπάρχουν για τη μελλοντική ανανέωση και τον εκσυγχρονισμό του δικτύου. Διαπιστώνεται πως η κατάστασή του σήμερα χρήζει ιδιαίτερης προσοχής, με την ίδια την ύπαρξή του να διακυβεύεται, αν δεν ληφθούν άμεσες και αποτελεσματικές αποφάσεις. Η διατήρηση αυτού του μεγάλου έργου, ως μνημείου πολιτιστικής κληρονομιάς, κρίνεται αναγκαία, αλλά και προκλητικά ενδιαφέρουσα καθώς η δυνατότητα μελλοντικής επανάχρησης μπορεί να αποτελέσει καταλυτικό παράγοντα στην ενίσχυση του εναλλακτικού τουρισμού στην Πελοπόννησο.	el
heal.abstract	This study executes a research on the history, the documentation of the current condition and possibilities of enhancement and reuse of the metric railway network of Peloponnese, which has been abandoned for the last decade. The research starts by presenting the historical evolution of the railway in Greece and, in particular, the metric network of Peloponnese, in order to emphasize its conservation value and its importance as an integral part of industrial heritage. The historical analysis provides evidence of the reasons that led to the degradation of this means of public transportation in Greece. Furthermore, the study focuses upon the railway’s architectural and social imprint. Through an on-site documentation, a detailed record of the condition of the network of stations from Myloi to Kalamata is attempted. This is the part of the network with many remarkable stations and some of the biggest works of engineering (bridges etc), but remains inactive and at the mercy of decay. Finally, the study examines the scenarios for future renewal and modernization of the network. Its current condition, is found to be needing urgent attention and care, since its very existence is at stake, unless immediate and effective decisions are taken. Its preservation, as a cultural heritage monument, is considered necessary and also intriguing since the possibility of future reuse can be a catalyst in the strengthening alternative tourism of the Peloponnese.	en
