heal.abstract	This essay entitled "Latent Reappearances and Regressions in the New Urban Reality", focuses on the social and spatial transformations of modern megacities. I approach the phenomenon through well-known examples of urban architecture that come both from the past and the present, with the intention of reinterpreting, comparing, juxtaposing or correlating them. An attempt is made to "read" them vertically, and to reconstruct a non-linear narrative which comments on the current ever-transforming urban reality. The concept of a progressive and linear flow of history is challenged, by proposing a reflection on structures and processes that constantly appear and reappear in society, and consequently in the architecture of urban centers. I use the term “πισωγύρισμα” (meaning regression and reemergence) to denote this constant challenge of the linear. I argue that the tendency to regression might stem from an inner, natural drive for order, as a response to the chaos of the modern metropoleis. In today's age of big scale and high speed, with the over-expansion of boundaries and sizes, we can observe traces of reaction and of the search for a lost balance. I see this essay as a call to reflect on the scale and redefine the scope of architecture of the ever-changing urban centers.	en
heal.abstract	Η εργασία με τίτλο «Λανθάνουσες παλινδρομήσεις στη νέα αστική συνθήκη», εστιάζει στους κοινωνικούς και χωρικούς μετασχηματισμούς των σύγχρονων μεγαλουπόλεων. Η προσέγγιση του φαινομένου επιτυγχάνεται μέσω γνωστών παραδειγμάτων της αρχιτεκτονικής και της πόλης, εγχώριων και μη, ιστορικών και τρεχόντων, με μια διάθεση επανερμηνείας και ανίχνευσης συσχετισμών, συγκρίσεων και αντιπαραβολών μεταξύ αυτών. Επιχειρείται να «διαβαστούν» κάθετα, χωρίς χρονικές δεσμεύσεις, ανασυνθέτοντας τα, με σκοπό τη δημιουργία μιας νέας αφήγησης που αφορά στη σημερινή μεταβαλλόμενη πραγματικότητα. Επίσης, υπονοείται μια αμφισβήτηση της διαρκούς εξέλιξης και γραμμικής ροής των πραγμάτων, προτείνοντας έναν αναστοχασμό σε δομές και διαδικασίες που εμφανίζονται και επανεμφανίζονται στην κοινωνία και κατά συνέπεια στην αρχιτεκτονική και στην πόλη. Αυτή η αμφισβήτηση γίνεται προσπάθεια να προβληθεί εδώ, μέσω της ανάδυσης μιας διαρκούς αμφισημίας και συμπυκνώνεται στον όρο «πισωγύρισμα». Ο πυρήνας όλου του εγχειρήματος λοιπόν, εστιάζεται σε ένα «πισωγύρισμα», που αφορά τόσο σε κοινωνικές όσο και σε χωρικές δομές. Το «πισωγύρισμα» δεν έχει μία και μοναδική σαφή αφετηρία όπως προαναφέρθηκε, αλλά το χαρακτηρίζει μια πολλαπλότητα. Προτείνεται πως η βαθύτερη ανάγκη αυτής της παλινδρόμησης, ίσως πηγάζει από μια εσωτερική, φυσική ορμή προς τάξη. Μιας τάξης ως ανάγκη αντιπαραβολής στη σύγχυση που προκαλεί η μητρόπολη. Στη σημερινή εποχή των πολλαπλών ταχυτήτων και μεταβολών, με την υπερδιόγκωση των ορίων, των μεγεθών, της κλίμακας γενικότερα, εντοπίζονται ίχνη αντίδρασης και αναζήτησης μια χαμένης ισορροπίας. Ο επαναπροσδιορισμός της κλίμακας λοιπόν, ίσως υποβόσκει ως γενικός απολογισμός αυτής της εργασίας.	el
