heal.abstract	Η μεγάλη συγκέντρωση πληθυσμού σε μεγαλουπόλεις όπως η Αθήνα, έχει καταστήσει αναγκαία την καθ‘ ύψος ανάπτυξη του αστικού ιστού. Για το λόγο αυτό η εικόνα της πόλης διαμορφώνεται από πολυώροφα κτίρια, τις γνωστές πολυκατοικίες, μια εικόνα που επηρεάζει τόσο την ίδια την πόλη όσο και τη ζωή των κατοίκων της. Η γρήγορη και σε ένα βαθμό άναρχη ανάπτυξη του μοντέλου αυτού, οδήγησε σε μια πληθώρα προβλημάτων που αφορούν την έλλειψη σχεδιασμού του δημόσιου χώρου. Παρά την έλλειψη σχεδιασμού του δημόσιου χώρου, πρέπει να επισημανθεί, οτι το μοντέλο της ελληνικής πολυκατοικίας, συν τω χρόνω, κατάφερε να συνενώσει δημόσιες και ιδιωτικές λειτουργίες μέσα στον αστικό ιστό. Αν και αυτή η συνύπαρξη δημόσιου και ιδιωτικού μέσα στο ίδιο κτίριο σε πολλές περιπτώσεις δεν ήταν προϊόν αρχικού σχεδιασμού, ωστόσο χαρακτηρίζει τη ζωή στην πόλη των Αθηνών. Η πόλη φαίνεται να εισέρχεται συχνά μέσα στα κτίρια, γεγονός που επιτυγχάνεται πολλές φορές μέσω των στοών, δημιουργώντας έτσι, χώρους συνάντησης του δημόσιου με το ιδιωτικό. Ένα ενδιαφέρον στοιχείο που προκύπτει από την όσμωση αυτή, είναι η δημιουργία ενός χώρου κοινωνικής αλληλεπίδρασης μέσα και έξω από την πολυκατοικία. Το κεντρικό ερώτημα της παρούσας μελέτης αφορά, λοιπόν, το ζήτημα της διαχείρησης και αξιοποίησης του δημόσιου χώρου μέσα στο οικοδομικό τετράγωνο. Πώς μπορούν να επανασχεδιαστούν και να αξιοποιηθούν οι κοινόχρηστοι χώροι των αθηναϊκών τετραγώνων, ώστε να λειτουργήσουν ως πυρήνες κοινωνικής αλληλεπίδρασης μέσα στις γειτονιές της Αθήνας; Μέσα από τη μελέτη παραδειγμάτων και τη σύγκριση με ένα ευρωπαϊκό μοντέλο κατοικίας, αυτό του Μλποκ κατοικιών του Βερολίνου, εξετάζονται οι δυνατότητες αξιοποίησης των κοινόχρηστων χώρων του οικοδομικού τετραγώνου.	el
heal.abstract	The large concentration of population in large cities such as Athens, has made necessary the high-rise development of the urban fabric. For this reason the image of the city is shaped by high-rise buildings, the well-known model of the Greek apartment building, named polykatoikia, an image that affects both the city itself and the lives of its inhabitants. The rapid and somehow anarchic development of this model, led to a multitude of problems concerning the lack of planning of public space. Despite the lack of planning of the public space, it should be noted that the model of the Greek apartment building, over time, managed to unite public and private functions within the same building. Although this coexistence of public and private in the same building in many cases was not a product of original design, it still characterizes life in the city of Athens. The city seems to enter the buildings frequently, a fact that is often achieved through the galleries, thus creating meeting places for the public and the private. An interesting element that results from this osmosis, is the creation of a space of social interaction inside and outside the polykatoikia. The central question of the present study concerns, therefore, the issue of management and utilization of public space within the building block. How can the common areas of the Athenian blocks be redesigned and utilized, in order to function as cells of social interaction within the neighborhoods of Athens? Through the study of examples and the comparison with a European building model, that of the Berlin Block, the possibilities of utilizing the common spaces of the building block are examined.	en
